Panguni Uthiram festival in Palani temple from Mar 23

Dindigul (TN), Mar 18: The ten-day Panguni Uthiram festival at the famous Sri Dhandayudhapaniswamy Temple, one of the six abodes of Lord Muruga, at Palani in this district will commence on Mar 23.

District collector M.Vallalar, who held a meeting to review the festival arrangements here, said pilgrims who climb the Palani hill should use the elephant path and those descending the steps.

The one-way system was being enforced to manage the crowd, as over five lakh people would visit the temple during the festival.

Two queues system -- one for ordinary and other for speical darshan -- would be in place.

The health department would put up temporary 24-hour clinics for the benefit of pilgrims, he said.

Palani Municipality would remove the garbage on a round-the-clock basis to keep the town clean. - Agencies
